Nvidia Console Killers are here

nvidia GTX 30 series

Nvidia has announced the RTX 3090, RTX 3080 and RTX 3070, which will offer PCIe 4.0 support and new cooler structures. The RTX 3080 will offer double the performance of the RTX 2080 and it also surpasses RTX 2080 Ti frame rates as well, It is been called as the “greatest generational leap” in Nvidia’s history. Whereas the RTX 3090 card promises to deliver 8K gaming at 60fps with ray tracing.

The New Cooler Design

The new cooler that comes with the Founders Edition cards was at the core of the Nvidia RTX 3000-series and is the reason behind the new smaller V-shape PCB. A large hybrid vapour chamber sits on the GPU core. Heatpipes then carry the heat to a heatsink that sits on top.

The New Cooler Design

The fan on the front draws air through the casing and expels it out the underside, whereas the rear fan blows air over the vapor chamber and out the side of the card. Nvidia claims this new cooler design will allow the RTX 3000-series to be significantly cooler and quieter than the 2000-series.

Drawback of the New Cooler

New Cooler Design

No doubt that it’s an innovative design, however in small PC’s where the rear of the GPU is just next to the motherboard, will see that pass-through fan blocked at the back, whereas vertical GPU mounts will see that heat simply blasted at your motherboard and not your roof fans. This could dump a large amount of heat into the middle of your PC that will be difficult to handle. The solution to this, simply buy a case specially designed for RTX-3000 series.

RTX 3080

Nvidia has promised performance on the RTX 3080 will be twice the base RTX 2080, and it’s impressive to see the obvious performance boost in a 4K title like Doom Eternal

Nvidia’s RTX 3080 can convey this 50 percent performance boost in all cases, at about 50 percent less cost. Nvidia released its RTX 2080 Ti at $1,199, and the RTX 3080 will make a big appearance for $699 on September 17th. It’s a major cost decrease for improved performance.

3080 performance

Nvidia’s promising much quieter and more efficient cooling system in the RTX 3080 which will provide 55 percent more airflow.

RTX 3090

RTX 3090

Nvidia’s calling it the BFGPU (Big Ferocious GPU). While the RTX 3080 will have 10GB of GDDR6X memory, the RTX 3090 contains a huge 24GB of GDDR6X memory. Nvidia is claiming that the RTX 3090 will be capable of 60fps gaming at 8K resolution. Nvidia claims it’s 10 times quieter and produces up to 30 degrees less heat than the Titan RTX. This new flagship card will be available on September 24th priced at $1,499.

RTX 3070

RTX 3070

It’s the most affordable card in Nvidia’s new Ampere lineup. It’s faster than both the RTX 2080 and the RTX 2080 Ti with a much lower price tag. Nvidia says that the RTX 3070 will be faster than the RTX 2080 Ti in some games at certain settings. It will contain 8GB of GDDR6 memory and will be available in October (probably October 15th) for a price of $499, with a slightly different cooler design to its more expensive siblings.
