“Nuke Mars” Musk Tweeted on Aug 16.
Four years from now, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk said in “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” that in order for the Red Planet to be livable we need to detonate nuke’s over it’s poles. It’s possible that the explosions will free the water vapours and cabon dioxide trapped inside and under the Martian ice, soil and rocks.
Scientists don’t fully agree with this idea, because they think that there is not enough carbon dioxide under the Martian surface to bring it’s atmosphere anywhere near to the Earth’s atmosphere or livable. The current atmosphere of Mars is even less than 1% as dense as that of the Earth. According to recent studies Nuking the Mars would bring it’s atmosphere to about 6% as dense as that of Earth, which in the eye’s of the researchers is not worth the trouble. Elon Musk has publically disagreed to this.
Worst of all, throwing a Nuke on Mars could backfire, causing a Phenomenon known as “Nuclear Winter”. In a Nuclear Winter we produce enough dust and other particles that they block out a significant portion of sunlight, as a result the Planet becomes a lot more cooler.
Elon Musk has a very bright vision for humanity. He needs to enable humans to colonize the Red Planet, and he’s structure a spaceflight framework to help get it going — a 100-traveler spaceship called Starship and a colossal rocket known as Super Heavy. The reusable couple could begin propelling satellites as soon as 2021 and individuals by 2023, SpaceX has said.
